Also known as the Biju Patnaik Airport, the Bhubaneswar Airport is found in the city of Bhubaneswar, India in the state of Orissa. The airport was named after the famed aviator Biju Patnaik. It is the only major airport that serves the state of Orissa. The airport has flights to Calcutta, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Raipur.

Due to the fact that the area has progressed rapidly these past few years, the Airports Authority of India has taken steps to the Internationalization of the airport. As a result, the government has allotted seventy acres for the expansion of the airport’s runway. The airports’ completion for international standards is expected to be finished by 2010. As of now, the airport currently serves domestic flights and airlines servicing the airport are the Indian Airlines, IndiGo, Jetlite and Kingfisher Airlines.

Bhubaneswar is the largest city in the state of Orissa and is often referred to as the Temple City of India. It is currently a center of commerce and religious activity. Of the many sights in the city, perhaps the most famous attractions are the temples of the Lakshmanesvara Group.

These include the Parasuramesvara Temple, The Svarnajalesvra Temple, Muktesvara Temple, Rajarani Temple, Yamesvara Temple, Sisiresvara Temple and others. Other sights are the Lingaraaj Temple and the Dhauli Giri. Nearby hotels are the Ginger Bhubaneswar, Trident Bhubaneswar and the Swosti Premium.
