The Bicentennial Conservatory features the Botanic Garden of Adelaide. It is located in the Adelaide Park lands in north eastern area of the city. The conservatory, which is frequented by visitors around the world, houses some of the most exotic plant life found in the tropical rainforests all over Australia, Asia, Papua New Guinea and other Pacific islands.

The building itself was constructed in 1987 and finished in 1989. The unique and modern design of the conservatory was developed by a local architect by the name of Guy Maronin commemoration of Australia’s bicentenary anniversary in 1988. It is the largest conservatory in the southern hemisphere. The parks added attractions are the botanical gardens within the vicinity.

The conservatory has the ability to adjust its climate and temperature because of its modern facilities. Sensors are located in various areas especially positioned to detect changes in the temperature causing the system to automatically adjust in order to make it more livable for the plant life in the building.

Informative tours are offered regarding the care of endangered plant species. Rates for adults are $4.50. Child rates, as well as seniors and students are $2.50. Family tours are given a group rate of $9.50 which includes 2 adults and 3 children below 15 years old. Special rates can be availed by group tours. The conservatory is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
