The Big Blue Bug is an affectionately thought-of landmark of the New England Pest Control center on I-95 in Providence, Rhode Island. Visitors to the historic city are amazed by the figure of a blue termite, also known as Nibbles Woodaway, standing 9 feet above the building, with a body length of 32 feet and a weight of 4000 pounds. Originally painted purple to mimic the actual color of a swarming termite, Nibbles has faded over the years, and is now so fondly thought of as the Big Blue Bug, no one has chosen to repaint it. The statue was constructed in the 1980s out of fiberglass and wire mesh, and has since been featured on such television shows as The Daily Show, The Today Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and Family Guy, as well as the movie Dumb and Dumber. This local landmark has also been featured on lottery tickets.
