On the southern third of the island of Key Biscayne, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is the home of one of the best beaches in the country. The park is named for Bill Baggs, the editor of the Miami News during the 1950s and 1960s.

The park has over a mile of Atlantic beachfront facing an ocean popular among snorkelers, swimmers, kayakers, boaters and fisherman. It is also a great place for biking and hiking. Many visitors to the park spend time viewing the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park´s lighthouse, which was restored in 1996. Grounds hours are Thursday through Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm., and free tours take place between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to sundown. Admission fees are $8.00 per vehicle, $4.00 per single occupant vehicle and $2.00 per pedestrian or bicyclist. Picnic pavilions are available at low fees.
