Founded in 1994 by Dennis and Anna Croukamp, the Bird Park is a 16 hectare native forest adjacent to Iguazu National Park, and the largest bird refuge in Latin America. The Park boasts over 900 birds, representing more than 150 different species, many of which are endangered.

The Bird Park is located approximately ten miles outside of central Foz do Iguaçu, at kilometer 17.1 of Avenida das Cataratas, and is open every day. The Park is accessible to tourist by way of a series of walking trails, which allows visitors to observe both birds and other animals in their natural habitat. In addition to being a place of recreation for tourists, the Bird Park is a research center for scientists, who study captive reproduction on the Park grounds.
