Bitsevski Park

The Bitsevski Park is one of the largest parks from Moscow, Russia.
This is a large forested area located in the southern part of the city, being the second largest protected areas in Moscow. The park is traversed by the Bitsa River and covers an area of 18 square kilometers. Bitsevsky forest area includes both natural complexes and sites with significant ecological value, historical and archeological monuments. More than 500 species of plants, including oaks, lindens and fine firs can be found in the park. On the territory of the Directorate of the park is an exhibition of rare plant species, aviaries with squirrels and pheasants. These were planted by Mikhail Katkov’s son at his family manor in the 19th century. The park has animals too, 33 species of mammals and 78 species of birds have been registered here. Tourists should be careful because it is easy to get lost through the trees and the ravines but if they walk enough they will emerge at the bottom of a downhill ski run, a cross county skiing area or by a spring where Russians are collecting spring water.
Bitsevski Park is very large and this means that is accessible from a few metro stations, from witch Bitsevki Park metro station is the closest. At metro station Konkovo is the ski slope and skis can be rented here.
