One of Canberra, Australia’s most popular tourist destinations, the landmark Black Mountain Tower offers a full circle view of the Canberra countryside. Black Mountain Tower was what used to be known as Telecom and Telstra Tower and is built 195.2 metres above the peak of Black Mountain in the Australian capital of Canberra. Visitors can view the surrounding environment through either the viewing gallery or from the two viewing platforms which are open.

Black Mountain Tower also has an exhibit within it which informs the public of Australia’s telecommunications history and the current major role it has in Australia telecommunications. A ‘hands-on’ exploration of the tower’s ‘Making Connections’ exhibit is also a feature in the tower.

A souvenir shop is in the tower vicinity, as well as fine dining restaurant which evolves. A separate coffee shop is also located in the tower. Admission upon entry is required. The tower facilities include a sheltered area, coach parking, public toilets and restaurants. Access to disabled facilities is available.

The platforms where visitors can view Canberra’s panorama is open from 9 A.M. until 10 P.M. every day of the week. Admission fee is $7.50 for adults and $3.00 for children aged 4 to 16. Children under the age of four have free access. Family passes are available at the admissions desk.

A plethora of nearby accommodations at any price range is available for visitors. Some accommodations include the Tattersalls Hotel, the Baradine Hotel, Commercial Hotel Boggabri, the Coonabarabran Hotal and the Cullendulla Caravan Park.
