The Blackpool tower dominates the skyline of Blackpool. It opened on 14th May 1894, and was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in France. It is now a Grade 1 Listed building. The tower houses a ballroom, where famous artists perform, and an aquarium. The Aquarium was opened whilst the tower was still being built, to earn revenue to fund the building project. It was modelled on the limestone caverns of Derbyshire.

Blackpool is a seaside town located in Lancashire, England, 40 miles northwest of Manchester. The town's main industry is tourism. It became prosperous in the early 1900s when factory workers from the industrial northern towns flocked there en masse for their annual factory holiday weeks. It is still the most popular seaside resort in the UK, particularly with Glaswegian people. Blackpool is famous for its tower, and its illuminations, which are lit every autumn, from late August to early November. The town is also known as 'the Gay Capital of the North'. Attractions include the Pleasure Beach amusements and the Winter Gardens, as well as a promenade and two piers.
