The “Birthplace of Tennessee,” Blount Mansion in Knoxville, Tennessee, is a National Historic Landmark, and the former home of William Blount. Upon the signing of the Treaty of the Holston, the mansion was the territorial capitol of Tennessee, and a family home, in the 1790’s. In 1926 Blount Mansion Association, Inc. was established as an organization dedicated to the then decaying property. By 1930 it had been restored, reopened for tours, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965. To this day tours are given by the Blount Mansion Association at the top of the hour, every hour. The mansion features exhibits, a gift shop, and a visitor’s center. The Blount Mansion is open to visitors from Tuesday to Saturday 9:30am to 5pm- and is closed during the month of January. Admission fees are $7 for adults, $4 for ages 6-17, free for children under 6, and $6 for senior citizens.
