The Blue Danube Airport also known as the Linz Airport, is situated 10km to the south west of Linz which happens to be the third biggest city of Austria, located in the northern part of the country.

There is a bus shuttle service between the airport and the chief train station in Linz that one can avail of for free if you wish to travel by train. The transfer takes all of three minutes. Since is Linz is on the main east-west railway line of Austria, it has frequent services to Vienna and Salzburg as well. There is a bus service that plies between the airport and the city of Linz costing you about three Euros each way.

The Linz airport has five snack bars and restaurants, an ATM machine, a bank, conference rooms, a visitor’s terrace with a play area for kids and a duty free shop where you can get souvenirs too.

You can walk through the Old Town and admire all the nice houses or strike a bargain while out shopping. Or visit the flea market which happens on a Saturday during summer in the middle of the town. There are several historical buildings which you must see including the baroque cathedral, the Church of St. Martin and the contemporary neo-Gothic cathedral.

Within seven miles from the airport you have the two star hotels of Novotel Linz and City Hotel and the three star Courtyard by Marriott Linz. Another mile or so away are the Steigenberger Maxx Hotel and the Dormotel Traunpark both two star hotels.
