Bogenhausen is situated in the north east of Munich, reaching from the Isar on the eastern side of the English Gardens to the city limits in the north (bordering with Unterföhring) and east (bordering with Aschheim), with the Stadtbezik Haidhausen bordering to the south.
Bogenhausen is a peaceful, residential area located close to the new fairgrounds and the airport. It is a great location for all those who want to spend their time in tranquil surroundings near the city centre.
This is an attractive neighborhood where many of the most spectacular houses are located, beside galleries, trendy shops and fine dining. Bogenhausen is an affluent area with ornately decorated villas, contrasting with most modern architecture from the mid-20th century. The Bogenhausen district is dominated by the futuristic, shiny silver Hypo Hochhaus skyscraper, which is more than 100 meters / 328 feet in height.
Bogenhausen is served by the U4 underground train, S8 urban train, Trams 17/18 and various buses. The eastern suburbs have good connections to the city centre and especially the airport.
Bogenhausen is not a shopper’s paradise as it does not really have a town or village centre with a concentration of shops. The nearest shopping centre (mall) is the Riem Arcaden built on the site of the old Munich airport alongside the new congress and exhibition centre (Messestadt). It can be easily be reached by bus from Arabellapark (bus 189). The U-bahn stop is Messestadt-West (U2)
