Borlänge Airport is also known as the Dala Airport. The airport is located on the southeastern edge of Borlänge. Borlänge is a city that is located in Swedish province of Dalarna.

The airfield of the Airport was built in the Second World War. However complete modernization took place during 1961. The commencement of the civil aviation started during the 1960s when the first civil airline arrived here. It was in 1972 that a new terminal was set up and additionally Dala Airport AB took over the controls of the airport. But Swedish military owned the airport until 2007.

The airport traffic was on a rise until 1989, but it started declining and in the year 2006, it hovered to a mere 33000 passengers only. The main reason for the decline can be attributed to the fast train connections to Stockholm, which serves as a good international as well as domestic connection to various destinations. Apart from that the cost cut policies which are becoming prevalent in the companies are attributing to this decline factor.

The airport has certain car rental agencies like Avis, Europcar and Hertz. The airport also has parking facility both for the short term and long term. It is open for the airport traffic from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm. But it is closed on the weekends.

Two airlines operate from Borlänge Airport – Direktflyg and Skyway Express. The airport has an annual capacity of 200,000 passengers. There are 3 check-in desks, and 3 gates. However there is only one baggage claim belt.
