The Borneo Marine Research Institute (BMRI) Complex, located in the Universiti Malaysia Sabah campus, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, is more popularly known as the Aquarium & Marine Museum. It was established in 1995. The exhibit is open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily except on Wednesdays – entrance is actually free.

The Aquarium & Marine Museum may be small – just around half the size of the Aquarium located at the KL Convention Center – but it does have several creatures not present in the bigger aquarium.

Facilities in the complex include free standing exhibition tanks, Marine and Maritime Museum, live open water reef exhibition center, live shallow reef exhibition center, mangrove walk, Multimedia Interactive Information Kiosk, and deep dive diorama.

Getting to the school can be easy – one only has to ask the taxi driver or get directions to Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Once inside the campus, the visitors could easily get directions to the exhibits. Still, it is best to drive a car to the area or pre-arrange for a taxi as finding a taxi from the campus can be quite difficult.
