Boston College is a private university located in Chestnut Hill Massachusetts; however, it was originally situated in Boston’s South End, hence the name Boston College. The college was founded in 1863 by Jesuit priests. It officially opened its doors on September 5, 1864 with only 3 teachers and 22 students. Since then, the university has expanded and grown significantly. Enrollment is at around 15,000. There are 679 full time faculty members and ninety five Jesuits live on the campus. The campus itself is divided into four different areas and features 8 libraries with more than 2.5 million volumes.
