The Botanical Garden of Curitiba is one of the most important tourist spots in the city and opened in 1991. These French-style gardens recall layouts like at Versailles, with many fountains, lakes waterfalls and winding paths within their confines. Part of the national University of Parana is located on the same grounds.

A greenhouse of 458 square meters contains many plant species from the Brazilian rainforest and is modeled after London’s Crystal Palace. Also on the grounds is a Botanical Museum which is a destination for many international researchers. There is also a tennis court, area for cycling and a theater on the garden grounds.

Accommodations nearby include the Hotel Viaduto (Rod br 116), as well as the Hotel Curitiba on Av Prefeito Omar Sabbag. Another option near the central bus and rail station is Vernon Palace Hotel. Lira Hotel on Av Sen Salgado Filho 463 is highly recommended.
