DBW Botanical Garden (in Swedish: De Wännernas Botaniska Badande trädgård) is a botanical garden located in the city of Visby, the largest city of the Swedish island of Gotland. Founded in 1855, the initials stand for De Badande DBW Wännerna (literally: the Friends of the Baths), for here was founded the Society of Friends of the Baths in early 1900.
The Botanical Garden DBW: s was founded in 1855, thanks to the efforts of Professor Hans Petter Gustavsson. Right from the beginning was a popular spot for people walking in the city. Early in the decade of 1930, there was a reworking of the garden acquired its current appearance. Between 2002 and 2005 has been a restoration including oval garden, herb garden, and a small stream to the pond.
The botanical garden is located near the beach, north of Almedal. If going by car may park in Kruttornet and walk through the gate on the left in Strandgatan. The main entrance is located at the corner of Strandgatan with St. Olofsen alley.
Between the fence and the sea is a very nice area for walking. From here you can enter the garden through the door Kärleksporten. The garden is permanently open to the public, free of access charges.
The sundial plaza is the heart of the garden, where there are some arches on which climbing roses and clematis. Around the sundial, exotic plants thrive (such as acanthus and euphorbia) along with more common ones. Heading towards the summer house you can see beds of roses and herb garden renovated. The garden hosts many musical concerts and children activities throughout the year.
