The Brunswick station located southeast of downtown Brunswick, Germany, was inaugurated on the 1 st of October 1960 replacing the old train station situated to the south of the Old Town.

Due to the growing traffic of the postwar period the need of a new central train station was more and more urgent as the construction and location of the old railway station head had long been unprofitable and outdated. The company decided to build a new transit station on the outskirts of the city in today's urban district Vieweg garden.

Nowadays the eight-storey office building of the station building is 98 meters long and 29 meters high and forms an architectural angle with Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse. The artistic natural stone facade of green serpentine with copper elements and the large slice in the entrance facade make this German station a unique one. At the top of the left half of the facade of the office building there is a clock made of copper.
