The sleepy beach fishing village of Buzios, Brazil, got an unexpected boost in 1960 when famous French supermodel and film actress Brigitte Bardot came upon the area with her Brazilian boyfriend. The little town is known for its 20 beaches dotting the peninsula, with climates ranging from tropical and “Brazilian,” to colder, open ocean due to currents reaching up from the Antarctic. Bardot's arrival solidified the area's reputation as the St. Tropez of Brazil.

A famous statue of Brigitte Bardot can be found in the Brigitte Bardot Border, a popular section of the town.
