Located in the historic district of Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia, the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church has a history which dates back to the late 17th century. The first church building was constructed in 1674 in the Virginia Colony. A new church was then built in 1715 in order to accommodate the community’s growing number of families. The first organ was installed in the church a number of years later, in 1755. The Bruton Parish Episcopal Church underwent a major restoration and renovation project in 1907. The congregation is now the most active parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia, with approximately 2,000 members.
