Buchforst is a district of Cologne. This forest area was developed and significantly populated only in the 20th century. After 1926, an 18 hectare site was acquired in the so-called big Kalkerfeld, where development was carried out. The architects of the settlements, William Riphahn and Caspar Maria Grod also designed the Buchforst Catholic parish of St. Petrus Canisius.
Buchforst offers a few tourist attractions like; the Blue Court, the White City, etc.
St. Peter Canisius Catholic Church was built in 1930 – 1931 by architects William Riphahn and Carl Maria Grod as part of the White City. This is the only church in Buchforst, Cologne that was built in the Bauhaus style.
The Evangelical Church of the Resurrection - This church was built from 1965 to 1967 by Winfried Georg Rasch and Wolsky. The church is an internationally acclaimed and widely published example of church building of the 1960s. Since 2005, the church is no longer in use by the Protestant church.
Being in the district of Cologne, there are several museums of many kinds which the visitor can visit. The famous Romano-Germanic Museum features art and architecture from the past. There are also several orchestras that are active in the city like the Gürzenich Orchestra and Musica Antiqua Köln.
