Set against the scenic and imposing West Maui mountains, the Buddha at Lahaina Jodo Mission is one of the most impressive landmarks to be found in the vicinity of Lahaina, Hawaii. Located at 12 Ala Moana Street in the western section of the town of Lahaina, the Lahaina Jodo Mission represents the largest statue of Buddha and Buddhist temple in the United States, and one of the largest outside of Japan. In fact, it is an exact replica of a Buddhist temple found in Japan itself.

The statue of Buddha, measuring some 12 feet in stature, is made of pure bronze and is quite the sight to see. The towering pagoda provides a unique panorama that is rarely seen outside of Asia, and the temple itself only adds to the architectural splendor of the setting. The full replica was installed in 1968 in commemoration of the first century having passed from the date of the first Japanese immigration to Hawaii.

There is no admission fee to see the temple, statue and pagoda, though donations are both welcomed and encouraged.
