The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are located at 2655 South Park Avenue in the southern area of the city of Buffalo. The botanical gardens date back to the period 1894-1900, which was when acclaimed landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmsted created Buffalo's South Park out of approximately 156 acres of farm land; this site eventually became the botanical gardens.

The main conservatory at the botanical gardens is a genuine architectural gem, one of only two Victorian-style tri-domed large conservatories in the country. The building was originally based on ideas taken from the Crystal Palace of London.

The exhibits at the gardens vary drastically, including several localized displays on the Florida Everglades, the Panama Cloud Forest, a Victorian Ivy & Herb House, and an Orchid House among others. Furthermore, the grounds around the main conservatory have many walking paths lined with outdoor gardens.

Entrance fees at the botanical gardens are set at $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students with ID, and $3 for children between 6 and 13 years of age (free for children below 6 and for garden members).
