The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, located on Lafayette Square in Buffalo, New York, is a multipurpose library facility which also hosts numerous conferences. Amongst its collections are the Mark Twain Room, a special exhibition featuring Twain's original handwritten copy of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, as well as numerous materials from the Delaware Avenue home where Twain lived while in Buffalo. Other notable collections include the Collection for Persons with Disabilities, the Center for African-American History and Research, and the Grosvenor Room, which houses genealogy, music, and rare books.

There is an area branch library in Clarence, New York, which is located at 3 Town Place. The location now features wireless internet access, 19 public access computers with printing and Microsoft Office, and a meeting room. The Clarence Library opened in 2001, and is one of the largest regional branches of the Buffalo and Erie Public Library System. It offers a large sampling of large print and audio books, as well as an extensive Reference Collection. Its park-like surroundings provide an excellent respite for children and adults, with many community events and summer programs for all ages.
