Burnie Airport is located in Wynyard, Tasmania, Australia. Wynyard is a rural town located 16 kilometers to the west of Burnie – because of this actual location, the airport is also called as Wynyard Airport. Although small, the airport is actually well used. It is used by two airlines – Tasair and Regional Express – with the latter operating at least 5 flights in a day. The airlines handle flights to and from King Island, Hobart, and Melbourne.

Owned by the Burnie City Council, this public airport is operated by Burnie Airport Corporation Pty Ltd. Burnie Airport underwent a major upgrade in 2006. This updated the passenger terminal to add café facilities and a shop. Also, free car parking services – with on-site lock-up facilities where customers can leave their keys at the designated kiosk – are offered. Also, Burnie Airport has an aircraft refueling depot plus light aircraft maintenance facilities which makes it a good base for many small plane enthusiasts.
