The BWI Airport, also known as the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, is an international commercial airport serving the Baltimore and Washington Metropolitan Area. It is located in Linthicum, Maryland and named after Thurgood Marshall, the first African American to serve on the United States Supreme Court.

After three years of construction, BWI (then called the Friendship International Airport) was opened in June of 1950. From its beginnings to today, BWI has grown significantly and is currently the 24th busiest airport in America.

BWI Airport is composed of five concourses, though recent renovations have rendered the A and B concourses practically merged. Concourses A-D are generally home to domestic flights, while Concourse E hosts international flights to destinations such as England and Jamaica. Southwest, Delta and Continental are just a few of the airlines that fly through BWI.

The airport is conveniently located at just minutes from the BWI Rail Station, Penn Station, Union Station and several bus terminals. A comprehensive assortment of parking facilities are also designed, with long term parking rates starting off at $8 and hourly garage parking at $20 (September 2009). Near the hopping cities of Baltimore and Washington, tourists are sure to enjoy their time spent in the area while staying at one of a number of accommodations available including the Four Points Hotel, which is conveniently located on airport grounds.
