Situated between the Denver Museum of Art and Civic Center Park in downtown Denver, the Byers – Evans House Museum was built in 1883 by the owner of the Rocky Mountain News (Denver’s first newspaper) as a private residence, and sold to William Evans six years later. The Evans family continued to inhabit the home until the early 1980s, when they donated it to the Colorado Historical Society.

The Byers - Evans House Museum is in itself an attraction, as the home has been restored to the condition in which it would have been found between 1910 and 1912, due in part to the fact that not only the home, but almost everything in it was donated by the Evans family. In addition to the historic home, a number of temporary art exhibits make their way through Byers – Evans, making this one of the most interesting and affordable museums in Denver. The Museum grounds are also available for rental for special events.

Located at 1310 Bannock Street in Denver, the Museum is within easy walking distance of the Denver Art Museum, the Colorado Museum of History, Civic Center Park, and the Colorado State Capitol. The Byers - Evans House Museum is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 A.M. until 3 P.M., with guided tours starting every 30 minutes on the hour. Admission is $4 for kids, $5 for seniors and students, and $6 for general admission, with parking available next door at the Denver Art Museum, or on the street (metered).
