Val Veny is an alpine valley located in the Valle d'Aosta, at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif, south of the village of Courmayeur. The Val Veny valley is the starting point of the normal route to the Italian Mont Blanc Grasselli through the glacier Miage and Francesco Gonella refuge.
Val Veny is divided into three main parts (starting from the high valley):
The part parallel to the chain of Mont Blanc, extending from the Seigne Col (2,512 m) and the bottom of the glacier Miage;
The intermediate part (plan Veny), characterized by flat fields and the river end of the Dora the Val Veny;
And finally, the entrance of the valley, dominated by Mont Blanc and the final part of the glacier Brenva (1,444 m).
There is absolutely no inconvenience to starting your ski day here. The Val Veny cable car deposits skiers directly in the center of all of the vast range of skiing on this side of the mountain. And, as we've said before, the lift system on this mountain is efficient and convenient. All skiers, no matter their starting point, can go from the Val Veny to the Checrouit side, from Checrouit to Val Veny, or to Youla, and back.
Once out of the Val Veny cable car, there are many choices. Your starting point will be Pre De Pascal, and from there, a succession of lifts will let you play in this area to your heart's content. On the south of Val Veny lies Lake Checrouit, located at 2,165 m altitude, it offers breathtaking views second to none. On the opposite side of the valley is the massif of Mont Blanc with the Dente del Gigante (4,013 m) and the glacier Brenva.
