One popular tourist destination in Hobart is the famous Cadbury’s Chocolate Factory. Located in 100 Cadbury Road in Claremont Tasmania, the factory is the largest chocolate factory in the Southern Hemisphere and in Australia.

The factory belongs to the Australian division of international confectionery and is currently a working factory. Most of the milk used to make its products is taken from the North-West Tasmanian region and processed at Cadbury’s Burnie milk depot, before being transferred to Hobart in tankers. Some of the factory machines are sixty years old but are still in use.

The factory is located about ten kilometers from the city centre. The easiest way to get there is by taxi. Many visitors choose to go to the factory by the River Cruise as well. The River Cruise lets you experience the different landmarks of Hobart city along with the Chocolate Factory.

Its guided tours give tourists a glimpse of how chocolates are made. Competent guides also give an account of the history of the factory building as well as of Cadbury’s delectable chocolates. The tour price includes a free gift for visitors and gives you a chance to visit their souvenir shops and buy chocolates with great discounts.

Opening hours for the tours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the months of September to May and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the months of June to August. Admission fees are $7.50 for adults and $4 for children 12 years and below.
