Located right at the centre of Cairns, The Cairns Rainforest Dome is a spectacular all-weather wildlife exhibit, encased by a twenty-meter high glass dome, covering 26,000 cubic meters. Pathways and boardwalks allow guests to walk through the ‘rainforest’ and catch a glimpse of free flying birds within.

Visitors can feel the texture of real pademelons as they move within their assigned enclosures. Kookaburras, frogmouths and curlews are a sight to behold, as are the pythons, turtles, lizards, freshwater crocodiles and bettong. A giant salt water crocodile named Goliath lives in his very own unique glass tank which visitors are able to see from an underwater viewing point. Tourists can hold and photograph koalas, as well as, pet Zorro, the black cockatoo.

Rainforest Dome is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. but closed on Christmas Day. A lift provided for visitors is available at the Reef Hotel Casino foyer. Wheelchair ramps and access are available within the precincts of the Cairns Wild Life Dome. Throughout the day, expertly conducted tours are available.
