The Cairo International Stadium is an Olympic standard stadium with a 74,100 seating capacity. It is the Arab world’s largest stadium facility that shows Cairo’s role as one of the regions finest locations for world wide events. It is located in a northeast suburb of Nasr City in Cairo. The stadium was inaugurated and opened in 1960 by President Gamal Abdel Nasser.

Home to one of the nation’s most popular sports, namely football, the Cairo International Stadium is a complex structure that has a main stadium, an indoor stadium and several satellite fields. The indoor complex has four Olympic sized pools and has a seating capacity of 20,000 people. This is an added extension to the already existing main stadium. It was built in 1991 for the All-Africa Games.

The Cairo International Stadium is located ten kilometers from the Cairo International Airport and is thirty minutes away from downtown Cairo. Hotels in the nearby area are the Sonesta Cairo Hotel and Casino, Radisson Blu Hotel (Cairo Heliopolis), Baron Heliopolis Hotel, Intercontinental Cairo Citystars, Staybridge Suites Cairo City, Concorde El Salam, the Karvin Hotel and the Le Meridien Heliopolis.
