Now known as the Auto Club Speedway of Southern California, this superspeedway located in Fontana was opened in 1997. The D-shaped 2 mile track has much in common with Michigan International Speedway (considered a sister track) and hosts many premier racing events such as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Inside the ticket gates is the Opportunity, California Fanzone, an enormous complex devoted to the race track experience. All fans with tickets can enter free of charge. Inside the Fanzone is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, the Impulse Retail Store, a stage for live performances and the Town Center, full of exhibits, stunt performances and spots to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office on 9300 Cherry Avenue in Fontana or by logging on to autoclubspeedway.com or calling 800-944-RACE. Plenty of parking is available, but visitors must remember to take their parking passes along with their tickets and use the appropriate lots. The track can also be reached by public transportation from Fontana. Ticket prices for events vary.

Accommodations in the area include the Comfort Inn on Baseline Avenue, the Circle Inn on Cherry Avenue and the Sunset Motel on Foothill Blvd. 3 miles off in Ontario there is a Hyatt Place on East Mills Circle. Travelers can also opt for the Four Points by Sheraton on Foothill Blvd. in Cucamonga.
