San Carlos de Bariloche, or simply Bariloche, is one of the biggest ski destinations in all of South America. Those who are feeling particularly active can actually take a hike all the way up the hill, but most people prefer to enjoy a trip on the chairlift.

While the view from the top of Campanario Hill might be one of the best in the world, the ride up isn't chopped liver, either. Travelers can enjoy the very leisurely journey through a canopy of fresh-smelling pine trees, and the views of Bariloche down below, as well as of the lake and the main road snaking its way out into the more remote parts of the area. No matter what time of year, it's worth a ride to the top of the mountain for that view.

After enjoying the wonderful views from the top of Campanario Hill, travelers can enjoy a coffee and even more breathtaking views from inside the coffee shop on top of the mountain. Just be sure to get back to the chairlift by five, as that's the cut-off point daily for trips up and down the mountain.

Located a few kilometers outside of the center of Bariloche, Campanario Hill is easy to reach by car or by city bus. The bigger hotels in the center of town, like Hotel Edelweiss, Hotel Panamericano, and Hotel Cristal, are just a short drive away, but the closest hotel is the famous Llao Llao Hotel and Resort.
