Campo 24 Agosto metro station is a part of the latest metro railway network of Portugal. The construction of metro began in late 90s and the station opened its doors to the public in 2002.
This train station also forms an important feeder service to the intercity railways. The station is for line ‘A’ metro service, which is also the longest network. There has been a long held belief in the hearts of the Porto residents that there is an underground fountain at the site of the station. This belief was substantiated and found true when the excavation at the station took place. The excavated ruins of the fountain are displayed at the station concourse.
The station has all the modern facilities and a myriad of services are provided to the passengers for their comfort. The security is beefed up and CCTVs and metal detectors are put in place at each nook and corner of the station.
There are many places of interest near this station like Biblioteca Publica, Maus Habitos and Capela das Almas, and so on. This station reflects the artistic combination of past glory and modern temperament of Portugal.
