The Canakkale Airport (ICAO: LBTH) is located in Canakkale, Turkey. It hosts Turkish Airlines with service to Istanbul-Ataturk and Atlasjet with one flight daily to Istanbul. Çanakkale is the best base for visiting the Gallipoli battlefields and the ruins of Troy.

Located on the southern shore of the Dardanelles Strait (Hellespont), Çanakkale was the major strong-point in the defense of the Dardanelles from the time of the Trojans through World War I.
Today Çanakkale is a pleasant town with adequate hotels to serve travelers using the Dardanelles car ferries (Çanakkale-Eceabat and Gelibolu-Lapseki). The town also has a museum of interest. It is possible to visit Çanakkale, Troy and the Gallipoli battlefields in a single day by flying in from Istanbul. However, a two day excursion is more practical.

Çanakkale's hotels are especially crowded on ANZAC Day (April 25th) when the World War I campaign is commemorated. The town has over 20 hotels, and a room can be obtained for as little as $46.
