Canal Park in Akron, Ohio plays host to America’s favorite pastime – baseball. Home to the Akron Aeros, a Double A Minor League affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, the stadium opened in 1997. Canal Park also hosts special events such as local baseball games and the Akron Marathon. The stadium was designed by Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, the same company that created Jacobs Field in Cleveland and Oriole Park in Baltimore. Baseball fans may be surprised to find out that Canal Park contains the largest free-standing scoreboard in the minor leagues and has an expandable seating capacity of 12,500.
