Located in suburban Kingston, the Canberra Railway Station is a terminal for the rail services of CountryLink from Sydney. This railway station is the sole operating rail service in the Australian Capital Territory.

The construction of the Canberra railway station began in the year 1913 when Canberra was named and founded. A new rail constructed to go to Queanbeyan which was situated on the Goulburn-Bombala branch, linked the rails from the capital to the Eastlake site of the station, which is now called the Kingston station. The New South Wales Public Works Department constructed this railway line, on behalf of the Commonwealth. It was in 1924 that the station building first opened when the Federal Parliament transferred to Canberra.

This passenger service was then improved with the connection of the Melbourne night train at Goulburn Junction connecting with the Canberra portion of the Cooma-Sydney overnight Mail train. In 1966, a brand new terminal building for passengers was constructed.

The Canberra Railway Station has disabled access available on its ground service. The platform arrangements are at one side with three different tracks. It has the CountryLink type of trains and has a station altitude of approximately 565 meters above sea level. It has a station code of CBR.
