Michigan is not known for its mountains, but the Cannonburg Ski Area in Belmont, Michigan offers beginners and double diamond rated slopes in a welcoming, family setting. There are over eight different slopes, and a wide range of instruction is offered, from children´s classes to group and individual instruction. While there are no snow-machines, Michigan´s weather means that snow is no problem—and during the summer months, mountain biking trails can be used free of charge. The bike trail is six miles long and well marked and bikers are asked to not bike on the slopes, because it might cause erosion. The trails are open for biking from April until Nov. 10th, when the ski season starts. During the month of July, the Symphony Picnic Pops offer classical music in a popular setting from 5pm to 11pm, every Thursday and Friday.

During the ski season, the Cedar Lounge offers hot lunches and snacks. There is a full ski rental supply shop that offers seasonal and daily rentals, as well as all one needs to enjoy winter sports. Daily lift passes start at $35 for adults and are free for children under six. Group lessons start at $35 per hour and a half class, with a minimum of eight adults. There is also a hall that can be used for catered events and meetings of up to 150 people.
