The Canterbury Museum is a small provincial museum located in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is known as the Cultural Precinct of Christchurch. The museum started out small but since then has grown in order to accommodate the diverse culture and human history of Christchurch. There are over two million collection pieces found in the Canterbury Museum. Most of the collections specialize on early Maori culture, European settlement of New Zealand, and the Antarctic Exploration.

The museum was completed in 1882. Today, it is one of the most widely renowned and most visited museums in the world. Benjamin Mountfort was responsible for the design of the Canterbury Museum. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from October to March and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. between April and September.
