Headquartered on Castle Street in the heart of downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority has served the Wilmington area since 1974. Known locally as Wave Transit, the authority oversees the buses, shuttles, and trolleys that run throughout New Hanover County.

The Wave Transit schedule is comprised of ten different city bus routes, one shuttle route catering to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington student body, faculty, and staff, and a downtown Wilmington trolley route. The Wave Transit website features a number of helpful features, including commute-time calculators, real-time bus tracking, and lists of all bus stops and their amenities.

The Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority is located at 1110 Castle Street in Wilmington, across from the Wilmington Sportsman’s Club. Wave Transit offices are open at the hub Monday through Friday from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M., although construction began on a new headquarters in 2009.
