The Capitol Arts Alliance Center, located in Bowling Green, Kentucky, dates back to the 1890s when it was known as the Columbia Theatre. Today, it is an important performing arts theatre featuring two art galleries as well, hosting thousands of visitors each year.

Over the years, the Capitol Arts Center has undergone several transformations. In the 1930s, it was transformed into a movie-house, only to close in 1967. It would have remained closed, too, had it not been for the contributions of the Bowling Green – Warren County Arts Commission. The group spearheaded a $1.3 million renovation project resulting in the reopening of the facility in 1981.

Since its renovation, the Capitol Arts Alliance Center has grown into a premier events center in Kentucky. The art galleries within the space enrich its cultural atmosphere. The Houchens Gallery provides space for 10 to 12 exhibitions annually, as does the Mezzanine Gallery. Both are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The theater hosts several acts and events, ranging from plays to concerts. Facilities can be rented out for different types of events, and interested parties should get into direct contact with center staff.
