Carlisle Airport (ICAO: EGNC) is located 9.3 kilometers northeast of Carlisle, Cumbria, England. The town owes its origins to a Roman outpost of the first century that was associated with Hadrian’s Wall. The airport is located on a hill side above the River Irthing and has been the location ofr pre-historic excavations.

It is the gateway to the Lake District and the south of Scotland. It was founded in the 1930’s and saw service in World War II as RAF Crosby-on-Eden, where pilots were trained to fly Hawker Hurricanes, Bristol Beauforts and Bristol Beaufighters. The airport is the site of Solway Aviation Museum. There is no scheduled airline service to the airport.
