Carrasco International Airport, or General Cesario L. Berissio International Airport (MVD), is the major airport in Uruguay. Located a few miles outside of Montevideo in Ciudad de la Costa, the airport serves over 2 million passengers a year. The completion of a new terminal in late 2009 has given the airport a more modern feel and a number of new amenities. The terminals and parking lots can handle a much higher volume of traffic.

Regular flights to Buenos Aires, Argentina are operated by Aerolineas Argentina, American Airlines and Sol. Flights to Panama City are offered by Copa, along with service to Madrid by Iberia and to Santiago by LAN Chile.
