The Carrier Dome, which bears the distinction of being the only domed stadium situated in the Northeastern United States, is also well-known as being one of the largest sutch structures to be found on any college campus nation-wide. Located at the base of University Hill on the Syracuse University campus, the Carrier Dome has been the home of SU football, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's basketball. With a seating capacity of nearly 50,000 people, the dome welcomes both SU-sponsored events, and community ones. Besides playing host to thousands of players, students, fans, and visitors each year, the dome has also seen some other momentous events during its nearly-30-year history. Olympic ice skating shows, the annual Martin Luther King Celebration, the Billy Graham Crusade, and concerts by Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Elton John, and many others have taken place here.
