Founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn Carter in partnership with Emory University, the Carter Center seeks to promote human rights and alleviate human suffering. The motto of the organization defines its basic goals: “Waging Peace. Fighting Disease. Building Hope.” It is run by the Carters themselves and a board of benevolent trustees.

The Carter Center itself is one of Atlanta’s premier event facilities. Located just two miles from downtown Atlanta, the Carter Center offers an array of meeting and event spaces, including an auditorium and a theater. From wireless internet to cocktail service, the Carter Center has it all.
