Carters Grove Plantation

Hotels near Carters Grove Plantation, Williamsburg (Virginia), United States .

Situated upon 750 aces of beautiful green landscape, Carters Grove Plantation was originally built for Carter Burwell, the grandson of Robert “King” Carter. The Georgia style mansion on the plantation was constructed in 1755 and the name pays homage to the family as well as to the local inlet, Grove Creek. Since the 1950s, Carters Grove was owned and maintained by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, through a gift from the Rockefeller Foundation. Today, however, it is owned by CNET founder, Halsey Minor. Minor plans to develop the property as a residential area, however a conservation easement on the mansion and 400 acres of the property is held by two public and non-profit institutions.

For those looking for nearby accommodations, consider the Clarion Hotel Historic District.
