While in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, visit the Cashman Field Center, a stadium with seating for more than 9,000 located within the Cashman Field Center Complex. The complex also includes a 100,000 square-foot convention center, and a state-of-the-art theatre with nearly 2,000 seats. Sprawled over 55-acres, the complex’s stadium is home to the Las Vegas 51s, the AAA affiliate to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The first stadium at this location was constructed 1948, with James “Big Jim” Cashman at the helm of the local Elks organization. After falling into disrepair in the 1970’s, the City of Las Vegas began reconstruction efforts and reopened the stadium in the early 80’s, along with the rest of the complex as it exists today. Besides baseball games, it is the location for many Las Vegas conventions, meetings, exhibitions and shows. Ample parking is available at the facility for $3 per space. Nearby accommodations include the Best Western Parkview Inn, the Four Queens Hotel and Casino, the Howard Johnson Las Vegas Strip, and the Econo Lodge Las Vegas. Area attractions include The Freemont Street Experience, the Liberace Museum, Gaming Classes at the Las Vegas Hilton, the Gallery of Fine Art at the Bellagio, and the Gun Store, in addition to the numerous casinos, spas, shopping centers, and nightlife options available on and around the Vegas Strip. |
