The Castle of Montorio located on the hill of Montorio Veronese is a castle of medieval origin, to which was annexed in the 19th century a large battery, which made it become part of the imposing defensive system of Verona.
Today, the imposing remains of the medieval castle stand on the hill of Montorio, the last major ridge that extends south, dominating the surrounding plain. The place is now largely urbanized and the castle provides a historic backdrop to the surrounding area.
The Castle of Montorio is currently open to the public, however, only the court is more accessible that the other parts of what remains of the castle. The other parts of the castle until recently were available to be visited but now it is enclosed by a fence. Most of the castle is in a state of ruin, while only a portion of it has been preserved and restored.
