The Cathedral of St John Evangelist, located at 812 N. Jackson Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a historic icon in this beautiful, midwest city. Home of the Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee for the past 150 years, the Cathedral's long and proud history began back in 1847. Since then it has remained virtually unchanged in appearance, except for its restoration in 2002. Natives of Milwaukee recognize this religious edifice by its remarkable tower and severe German architectural style, though the building itself is done out of brick. In addition to regular Sunday and weekday worship services, the Cathedral has been the proud home of numerous weddings, as well as fine arts outreach programs. The Wednesday concert series is an especially well-known mainstay of the arts curriculum, which also includes paintings and rotating arts displays. Other outreach programs undertaken by the church include the human concerns commission, which assists in providing food, clothing, and shelter to the poor, and counts many church volunteers among its members.

Visitors are welcomed to the Cathedral Monday to Saturday, from 8 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from noon to 1 pm. Mass is given on Sundays at 8 am, 9:30 am, 11 am, and 5:15 pm, and weekday mass occurs at 7:45 am and 5:15 pm.
