One of the more relaxing spots to hang out that isn't the beach Fort Myers is Centennial Park, site of numerous events. The city's largest public park, Centennial Park is often a popular spot for recreation, especially on warm spring days and on weekends. It's not uncommon to see a large number of people sunbathing, families having picnics, and couples lazing away on blankets.

The park's 10 acres include a fishing pier and a spot to launch and dock boats, as well as a volleyball court, a large playground, and a couple of pavilions for picnics.
There are also ample park benches, each of which offers great views of the river, especially at sunset.

A number of different events take place at Centennial Park each year, including music festivals and community celebrations. It's possible for private groups to rent the pavilions for special occasions, too.
