Central Station Magdeburg

The Central Station of Magdeburg is located in northern Saxony-Anhalt. This is the main railway station in Magdeburg and it has Hall’s main train station in its adjacency. This is linked to the ICE/IC network of the German railway. It is mainly a transit station and is encompassed by three squares which are: Cologne Square, The Willy-Brandt-Platz and The Konrad-Adenauer-Platz. This station is considered to be the backbone of long distance railway transport of Magdeburg and it connects Magdeburg with different states of Germany and France like Berlin, Loburg, Wittenberg, Dessau, Oebisfelde, Valley and Braunschweig.
The foundation stone of Central Station of Magdeburg was laid in the year 1870. Though, in 1873, the first train between the Central Station and Petersburg was commuted, the construction work was completed only around 1893. Due to heavy air raid in the year 1945, the parts of the station collapsed and it was rebuilt later.
This station is located near the Damaschkeplatz Magdeburg which is one of the largest transportation hubs of Magdeburg connecting several bus and tram stations in Magdeburg. Public transportation to the inner cities can be availed from here. There are several major roads around the station like B71, The Magdeburg Ring and L49. In the station premises, there are around 20 shops and food stores. There are various large shopping centers near the station including the much known Allee Center. Hotel In Der Grünen Zitadelle Von Magdeburg, The Maritim Hotel and Hotel Stadtfeld are within a mile from the station.
